You are very involved in robotics, what is it that you do?
I’m the Community lead for Memorial’s robotics team. I organize outreach events that get Memorial into broader audiences. I also help design the robot by making the blueprints.
Why do you do what you do?
I do this because robots are cool and I feel I’m actually affecting the community around me.
Do you plan on bringing what you do into your adult life?
The skills I learn on the on the robotics team are highly sought after in the real world and I plan on continuing to develop these skills.
Advice for new students?
My advice for new students is to get involved in a club or sport. My freshman year was really boring until I joined the robotics team. [Once I joined] I made a lot of friends and life was good.
What made you start?
A few of my friends were talking about the team and I was interested and came to one of the meetings. The rest is history.
How do you find the time?
I mostly fit everything around [robotics] because it’s so important to my life and I gain so many skills from it. The more time I put in, the better I get. I try to at least pop in and see what’s up even if it’s just for an hour every night.
How long have you been doing what you do?
Since the end of my freshmen year.
